Guru is Enerva’s founder and CEO.
Guru has successfully led and guided several energy conservation and GHG emission reduction programs in his career. He has more than 10 years of experience in developing and implementing energy conservation programs in commercial and industrial sectors. He has successfully led numerous projects in delivering energy efficiency services to utility clients across Canada. He has also served as industry advisor on program and portfolio review initiatives including the IESO’s Mid-Term Review of the 2015-2020 program framework.
Guru started out in the energy sector on the regulatory side of the utility business as a Senior Financial and Regulatory Analyst at the Electricity Distributors Association in 2005. He represented the utilities before the Ontario Energy Board on a number of proceedings notably the cost of capital proceedings, and performance based regulations proceeding.
Later in 2008, at Direct Energy, Guru was the Manager, Corporate Strategy for the $6bn energy company where he led corporate strategy initiatives for valuation of acquisitions, retail propositions, and energy services business.
As Director, CDM at the EDA (2010-2011), Guru was the Association’s staff lead on behalf of over 70 utilities for the design of all province-wide programs for the 2011-2014 CDM framework. The process involved a complete design of the portfolio of programs to be delivered by the utilities across the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors including speciality programs for small business and low-income. Guru also was the staff lead in negotiating the Master Agreement between utilities and the Ontario Power Authority.
Guru joined Willis Energy Services in 2011 as the Director of Commercial Programs and led the delivery of the largest out-sourced commercial and industrial program delivery in Ontario. He continued at Willis Energy Services, and stayed on as Willis Energy Services was acquired by CLEAResult. At CLEAResult, he became Vice President and Canada-wide lead in 2016. Under his direction, CLEAResult started delivering new programs in the commercial and industrial sector for energy management, as well as started its first residential program delivery in Canada in 2017.
In 2017, Guru led the successful Enerva bid for delivery of Ontario Centers of Excellence (OCE) SME GHG Reduction Program, completing the program design and startup up plan for program delivery.
Parminder is Enerva’s Executive Chairman, having joined in 2019.
Parminder Sandhu has more than 25 years' experience in the energy industry, with expertise in program delivery, renewable procurements, and resource planning. His functional expertise includes operations, engineering, marketing, finance and risk management.
He has planned, designed, implemented, or supported programs in excess of $2.2 billion in aggregate budgets in jurisdictions across North America, including British Columbia, California, Washington, Oregon, Minnesota and Ontario.
Parminder founded and was chief executive officer of Canada's largest privately-held energy program implementation firm, which he sold and then retired from in December 2015. His career has focused on providing exceptional customer service, creating a positive organizational culture, and delivering results cost-effectively and prudently, which builds trust and reputation with all stakeholders.
In 2017, he was appointed the Chair of the Green Ontario Fund, an Ontario provincial agency with a mandate to leverage investments to fight climate change by investing $680M annually. In 2019, Toronto city council appointed Parminder Chair of The Atmospheric Fund, a $90M endowment from all three government levels focused on grant-making and direct investment in cleantech.
Mayuran has over 10 years of experience in the design and delivery of energy savings and GHG emission reduction programs. While working at the IESO, he was responsible for several residential and commercial energy efficiency programs all the way from program and incentive design through to contract procurement and management, and finally to reporting and evaluation.
Mayuran has experience with every element of program design, program launch and program management. For various clients and programs, he has led program design activities, conducted technology research, analysis and incentive setting, developed program forecasts, performed financial and cost-effectiveness calculations, developed business requirements for program management IT solutions, developed reporting templates, set up contact centre operations including scripts & processes, developed public-facing program communication materials including website layout and copy and other documents, and overseen program management activities such as development of internal operational procedures, assignment of resources, reporting and management of program risk.
